I went back to the years 1988 - 1993 and selected the best 40 songs I'd written during that era. As these were the first songs I'd ever written, there were many rough edges and painfully naive lyrics - but I was convinced, with a bit of work, that I could revamp them into something more interesting.

I've kept some of these songs almost exactly the same as when I'd first written them, whereas others have had a major facelift. In fact, a small number of them have even had their lyrics completely rewritten! But they've all retained at least an essence of their original selves.

So this, my 13th solo album, is the first of two albums that revisits my most distant musical past. 25 years after writing my first ever songs, they have returned in a newer and more sophisticated form - greatly helped by my improved skills, expensive instruments and advanced recording technology!

The album's title comes from my belief that most of these songs will only appeal to my oldest or most devoted fans. I could be wrong. I do hope so!
